Saving
joy to hold Presidential
Volunteer Service Awards
Waldorf,
md, April 23, 2009: On May 1, 2009, 12 Volunteers will receive the
Presidential Volunteer Service Award. The award is a national
merit given out by the President of the United States of America, that
recognizes achievement through volunteerism and humanitarian efforts.
The award was created in 2003, when then President Bush created the
President's Council on Service and Civic Participation to find ways
to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers made.
The President's Council
on Service and Civic Participation fashioned the President's Volunteer
Service Award program to honor those who, demonstrated dedication and
who encouraged others to volunteer. Saving Joy, a charity in Waldorf,
MD, that caters to the homeless and people in need will present these
awards. The Awards ceremony will take place at the Banquet Hall
at Calvary Gospel Church in Waldorf, MD at 6:00 PM.
